The Wholesale & Retail sector is all about knowing your seafood! New Zealand seafood is a nutritious meal choice, it’s good value for money, and comes from a sustainable resource.

Having a qualification in seafood retailing is the first step to understanding how to handle and sell all types of seafood. It also helps you to advise consumers on which seafood to choose and how to store it properly. This qualification will enhance your customer service skills, as you will be able to promote different species of fish and persuade customers to try something different for their seafood meals.

The seafood retailing qualification, which is nationally recognised, is based on unit standards which are the building blocks of the qualification. Each unit standard is specifically designed to recognise what you need to know and be able to do to support your role within the industry.
